Clear View Technology anti-fogging line counter.

Okuma's Strike Zone linecounter system incorporates a mechanical counter that precisely measures line based on spool revolutions. These counters measure in feet and are calibrated at the factory to be most accurate with a full spool and monofilament lines.

Strong, Stable, Smooth – Okuma’s Mechanical Stabilizing System is a support system that ties the spool shaft, pinion gear, pinion gear bearing, drive shaft and main gear together with a single support system. While other reels on the market offer minimal or no gear stabilization, this patented Okuma design allows all of these critical parts to stay in precise alignment. Designed specifically to hold up to the demands of braided and wire line fishing, the MSS support system stabilizes the spool shaft at 3 key stress points to eliminate flex under pressure – which directly translates into a reel that is more durable, stronger and smoother than the competition.

I guide for Salmon and Steelhead on the California North Coast Rivers. I bought two of these reels last year and this year I bought four more. I think that they are the best product for the price that I have found. I have used two other name brands but I have the best luck with the Okuma. I have found that with the Line Counter reel, the most common problem is that the line counter mechanism is the first thing to fail. I have used these new reels on at least 40 trips on the river and they have performed great. Not a single problem. My clients really like the looks and the feel of the reel. The drags are smooth and consistent.

OK,as a guy who fishes the great lakes, and has 12 of these and others first off let me tell you there a great trolling reel for large salmon.
I just ordered 2 more reels,as is turns out Okuma is removing the normal click sound, starting 2014(not the loud clicker) and as a result I thought the new batch of reels were defective, but thats not the case. But sure would have been nice to know!!..Okuma

This reel is very similar to the Convector series, just more bling. As I use these more I will update this review,if things change.

But every reel requires maintenance,so have it serviced or do it yourself.

This reel is just what the doctor ordered. Lake Erie walleye killers. Only thing bad is they did away with the click as you reel. It’s now silent and my 3 other reels make a sweet soothing click while reeled. I liked the click because I could tell if people were reeling to fast even if I wasn’t watching them.
Reel still works perfect other then that little minor change.

Great reels for striper fishing. No more guess work about how much line is out to get a bait at a certain depth. Iv’e caught catfish and this reel handled them fine. Drag doesn’t seem to tighten down as much as it should but that hasn’t been a problem yet. In fact, it will probable keep me from losing a bigger fish as I tend to get a little aggressive with the drag on bigger fish.

The Okuma 303D is a serious reel! Of all the linecounter reels out there, this is clearly the best. Clear view, doesn’t fog, and control location prevents accidental reset. These reels have held up fish after fish. The drag system is also unique. So many reels take extra tensile to start the drag slipping. Not these, they start slipping easily and predictably. The drag adjusts with positive clicks, making it easy to increase a click or two or back off. You want to manage big fish with lighter line, this is it.

I have one season down with this reel and it worked great and had no problems at all. Nice reel to work a trolling set with and will be looking forward to adding a few more for this season. I do primarily muskie trolling with this reel.
