Shimano Tekota 800LC is a trollers dream and the perfect cross-over reel for both freshwater and saltwater species, from walleye to tuna.

With line capacity, construction and advanced features, the Tekota TEK800LC is a great solution for anglers who troll for both fresh and saltwater species. Great Lakes anglers will appreciate the palmable line counter, and saltwater enthusiasts will appreciate the durability and strength.

For many types of sea-angling a slower rate of retrieve is required. In these circumstances, the Tekota 800LC is ideal with its 4.2:1 gear ratio, whilst the addition of a level wind will also appeal to anglers looking for excellent line lay. All models are available with a line counter to help target fish feeding at specific depths.

Line Counter
This convenient feature allows the angler to place the lure in the strike zone over and over again. The line counter tracks how much line has been cast off of the spool, and can be reset to zero by pushing a button.

These stainless steel ball bearings are specially treated to drastically increase the corrosion resistance of the bearing. These bearings will last at least 10 times longer than standard stainless steel ball bearings in high salinity environments. The secret of longterm rotation performance is to prevent any form of rust, corrosion or oxidisation of the bearings, which can cause a reduction in the reels performance over time. Shimano A-RB bearings are the answer to this and are fitted as standard on most Shimano freshwater reels and on all Shimano saltwater models.

Super Stopper
Super Stopper is a oneway roller bearing that eliminates backplay for solid hooksets. Super Stopper anti-reverse uses a one-way stainless steel roller bearing that eliminates back-play. This provides the angler with instant hook setting power.

Metal Series
The metal construction showcased in some of our finest reels now appears throughout our line of Metal Series products. Metal frames not only keep moving parts in precise alignment, they also feature the use of the latest anodizing, plating and painting techniques for beautiful and durable finishes.

Clicker System
Increases the tension on Freespool and activates a clicking alarm when a fish bites.

Level Wind System
Level wind ensures perfect distribution of line across the spool

Diecast Aluminium
Diecast aluminium is used for many types of reel and is most common on fixed spool reel bodies and rotors. It is also used for spools on P4 fixed spool reels and come baitcasting models.

Cold Forged Aluminium
Cold Forged aluminium is used for some ‘round’ reels, fly reels and is also used for many types of spool. Made from one single piece of aluminium Cold Forging produces great strength.

Dartanium Drag
This drag material provides a wider range of drag settings, along with the smoothest Shimano drag performance ever.

The HAGANE Body is produced from high-rigidity aluminium or magnesium. This creates stiffness and impact resistance, while at the same time eliminating flexing of the body. The result is a rocksolid housing and support for the moving internal gearing and greater efficiency throughout the reel.

    Great line counter reel!
I have owned and used two Shimano Tekota 800 LC reels for six years. I bought them as strong reels with levelwinds as I often take very inexperienced people wahoo and mahi fishing. They have all held up GREAT. I run 65 lb. braid line on these reels and they hold miles. This because we could always tangle with a wild marlin. Hasn’t happened yet, but we did land a 168 lb. sailfish recently. Surprisingly, these Tekota reels knocked out my Saltist and Accurate bottom fishing reels. These Tekotas are just so smooth and strong, and I found it much easier to drag up the biggest grouper and snapper with these larger Tekotas than on the somewhat smaller but higher gear ratio Saltist and Accurate reels. And not having to use your sore thumb to levelwind abrasive braid line all day is a plus. The levelwinds are strong and have never been challenged by big fish and big weights fishing 800 feet down. I maintain my line counter reels very well, soak in rainwater after every trip, partially disassemble and grease often, and these reels are still functioning like new. There is enough plastic on this reel to get scobbed up in hard use, but none of that stuff is structural. They still look good. I would not choose these reels fishing for marlin or really big tuna, but these reels have the power and capacity to handle anything swimming up to maybe 200 lbs. And not having to constantly remind kids and rookies to thumb the line on retrieve is worth a lot.

    The best reel so far!
Just a perfect reel. Size and drag enough to catch the biggest fish in salt and fresh water. Make sure to choose the right fishing rod for it and enjoy. Love it!

    Solid reel
I own 3 more just like it and when I seen the incredible price I couldn’t resist another one! This counter reel is tough and dependable!

    Very strong, smooth levelwind reel
I fish offshore exclusively, and I take a lot of tenderfeet fishing. Trying to get them to use their thumbs to levelwind the line is a fool’s errand when they get excited fighting a big wahoo or tuna. I own four of these reels, and have used them hard for over 8 years. They are still good as new. But I take care of my Shimano reels. I soak them in rain water after every trip, and I break them down and re-pack them with water-resistant grease every year. The main thing is that no big-shouldered tuna has ever damaged the levelwinds. If pulling big skirts, I keep the drags cranked down hard to ensure a good hookset. I’ve caught yellowfin and dogtooth up to 100 lbs, and none of them ever got close to damaging the levelwinds. And these Tekota 800s are my favorite reels for bottom fishing. Super smooth, strong, and tons of line capacity. It’s wonderful when you’re tired reeling up from 600 feet that you don’t have to use your thumb to levelwind the reels. You will fight the fish harder and smarter if you are not distracted levelwinding manually, and your wet thumbs don’t get chewed up by the braid on a long day of fishing. I wish the left side covers were metal, but all of my plastic ones have held up fine, so I guess they’re pretty durable.

    Good reel
Higher gear ratio than some others I have so reels in much quicker, but a little harder to reel in really big fish. Can bring in medium size grouper with no problem.

    The best for the $$
We own two of these reels now. Primarily we use the tekota 800 for halibut fishing. We’ve landed plenty of fish in the 100lb range and the drag on these reels is what makes them so awesome. They’re always smooth and reliable, all my family needs to put big ol flat fish in the freezer year after year!!

I have used the tekota 800 lc since july since I needed a multi purpose reel. I have caught salmon, bottomfish, halibut and tuna with it up to 85lb braided/100lb fluoro. It is overkill for salmon but i love its smooth drag and I can toss 4oz swimbaits with it. I have stayed away from levelwinds for big ocean till now and I felt a need for a reel that lays braided evenly on spool(i’m getting lazy as i get older). no levelwind worm gear problems bringing up butts and the snags you get bottom fishing. I have nothing bad to say about it since it appears to be bullet proof.
